Hugo graduated from the University of Hong Kong (majoring in Ecology and Biodiversity) and has a strong passion for nature. During his studies, he participated in various ecological surveys conducted by different conservation organizations. Over the past decade, Hugo has planned and led a variety of events and projects (including eco-tours, ecological website creation, citizen science projects, environmental education volunteer training programmes, ecological exhibitions). The experience has effectively and professionally conveyed his love and concern for ecology to others. He also appeared frequently as a representative for his former organization in the media promoting ecology and environmental education.
In addition, Hugo is enthusiastic about raising community’s awareness to local ecology. Taking advantage of the trend of hiking in Hong Kong, yet at the same time, there were widespread misconceptions about wildlife. Therefore, Hugo founded the "Backyard Walk" Facebook page, which promotes local ecology and hiking trails to the community through pictures and writing. This helped reduce the pressure on popular hiking spots and encouraged the public to become more familiar with the natural environment around their community. Hugo has also been interviewed by the media as the page founder and been invited to write articles on online platforms.
Hugo firmly believes that only when everyone is aware of the beauty of nature as well as the connection between themselves and the environment, they will increase the sense of belonging to the community and truly protect this beautiful world. Being part of OWLHK, he looks forward to contributing his experience, community care, and passion for ecology to environmental education.
