Application Research on Augmented Models and Smart Experiential Engagement in Ecological Conservation of Yim Tin Tsai, Sai Kung

Ecological surveyors were observing mangroves and recording species

Under the support of Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme, the research team of Department of Geography and Resource Management, from The Chinese University of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), conducted the programme “Application Research on Augmented Models and Smart Experiential Engagement in Ecological Conservation of Yim Tin Tsai, Sai Kung” in the Sai Kung offshore island Yim Tin Tsai.

OWLHK is honoured to be one of the supporting organizations. We are going to conduct a three-year ecological monitoring and survey, providing baseline information including plants, birds, butterflies, dragonflies amphibians and intertidal organisms. It would be leveraged in the development of Augmented Reality applications, designed by CUHK, as well as from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Yim Tin Tsai’s biodiversity would be showcased thoroughly.

On the other hand, OWLHK will be collaborating with CUHK team to hold ecological workshops and educational activities. It could reinforce villagers and the public usage of ecological knowledge and intelligent technologies, enabling the related stakeholders to have a deeper connection with the village environment, in order to promote the island’s nature conservation and countryside revitalization.
