Hong Kong Fern Course

The course consisted of a fern observation session, enabling participants to learn about the fern structure

Since 2024, OWLHK has started the “Hong Kong Fern Course”. Participants who completed the “Foundation Course on Plant Identification” could learn about the structure and ecology role of ferns. With the combination of outdoor field trips, participants could study the method of identifying and recording the ferns.

Course Feature

  1. Small class teaching: each class opens for application within 16 trainees, arranged on a first-come, first-served basis. Teacher-to-student ratio remains 1:8.
  2. Professional tutor: lecturers and field-trip tutors are equipped with rich environmental education experience, who are also sophisticated in local botany survey, conservation or research
  3. Outdoor education: the course consists of 2 field trips, with at least 12 hours
  4. Featuring Ecology Component: on top of fern species identification, it introduces the importance of plants ecologically

3 sessions of indoor lectures and 2 full-day field trips. 18 hours in total.

Participants will receive a certificate, provided that having at least 80% attendance and completion of personal coursework.
