Family Forest Walk and Learn for Preschoolers

Activity Highlights

• Warm-up Activity: Colours of Nature
  Parents and children observe their surroundings together, collecting natural objects of different colours for comparison and classification.
• Station Activity: Nature Art Gallery
  Parents and children work together to gather natural materials and use their creativity to create a unique family portrait inspired by nature.
• Trail Challenge: Photo Detective
  Parents and children examine photographs of natural objects and follow the instructor along a forest trail to search for matching items in the environment. Through this guided exploration, they discover common plants and animals and learn more about the natural world around them.

Activity Highlight

• Warm-up Activity: Nature Camera
  Parents and children use a “Nature Camera” to observe interesting sights in the natural environment. They then record their discoveries through drawing and creative expression.
• Station Activity: Grassland Footprints
  Parents and children take off their shoes and walk barefoot on the grass, experiencing nature through touch. Together, they use body movements and positions to create collaborative pictures, strengthening their connection with the natural world.
• Trail Challenge: Nature Bingo
  Guided by the instructor, parents and children explore a forest trail and use their five senses to discover plants and animals in the environment. Through this interactive bingo challenge, participants learn to appreciate the beauty and diversity of nature.

Family Coastal Exploration

To gain a complete understanding of local ecology, exploring nature means not only heading into the forests but also discovering the coast! This parent-child outdoor learning experience introduces young children to Hong Kong’s coastal ecosystems, helping them understand how intertidal organisms live and adapt to their environment. Through interactive games and hands-on exploration, children develop curiosity, concentration, and an awareness of environmental conservation.

Activity Format

The activity is specially designed to provide a safe and age-appropriate coastal exploration experience for young children. Under the guidance of our instructors, parents and children take part in interactive games and carefully observe the coastal environment together. Participants search among rock crevices and along the shoreline for fascinating creatures such as mangroves, snails, and crabs, developing keen observation skills and concentration. By learning side by side, parents and children gain a deeper appreciation of the rich biodiversity of the intertidal zone while strengthening family bonds through shared discovery and exploration.

Family Fun Day Series

Move beyond traditional group games and picnics with our professionally designed, ecology-themed interactive adventure programmes. Led by experienced environmental educators, these engaging family experiences allow parents and children to discover fascinating plants and animals together in a fun and relaxing way, creating unforgettable memories for your school's Family Fun Day.

Family Fun Day: The Butterfly Life Cycle Adventure

Activity Format

Each family receives an adventure map and embarks on an orienteering-style journey, guided by parents and supported by our instructors stationed at designated checkpoints. Along the way, participants take on a series of exciting challenge missions. Families step into the role of an insect and experience the complete metamorphosis process, progressing through the stages of egg, larva, pupa, and butterfly.

Activity Highlights

The programme places strong emphasis on parent-child interaction, with families working together to complete challenges. Through imaginative role-play and interactive activities that engage with the natural environment, participants gain a deeper understanding of an insect's life cycle and its relationship with nature.

Family Fun Day: Nature Discovery Mission

Activity Format

Following the instructions on their mission cards, families navigate to designated locations and complete a series of plant- and animal-themed exploration activities. The programme encourages parents and children to investigate the environment independently, such as locating target plants, closely observing wildlife, and engaging their senses to explore the nature. Upon completing each mission, our tutors provide guidance, verification, and interpretation, helping families uncover the wonders and mysteries of nature together.

Activity Highlights

This participant-centred activity emphasises direct interaction with the environment and encourages curiosity about the nature. Parents and children are given the freedom to explore nature together, while instructors serve as facilitators who provide thought-provoking questions and timely guidance. Through careful observation and discovery, children are encouraged to find answers independently and develop a meaningful connection with nature.
