Insect Hotel Workshop

Insects play a vital role in ecosystems by pollinating plants, decomposing organic matter, and serving as food sources. However, habitat loss, genetically modified crops, pollution, diseases and climate change are causing drastic declines of insect populations. This workshop begins with a lecture on pollinators’ ecological importance, followed by hands-on construction of simple "insect hotels" to provide nesting sites for solitary bees, turning knowledge into action.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand pollinator ecology and the role of insects in ecosystems
  • Learn about solitary bee behavior and insect diversity
  • Build an “Insect hotel” to take action in conservation
