AFCD’s PEP aims at enhancing ecological value of plantation. Past plantations used exotic species such as Brisbane Box and Paper-bark Tree to quickly reestablish the canopy, however, these exotic trees have no value for local biodiversity. Therefore, in PEP we are going to remove some exotic trees in the plantation, then re-plant native tree species’ seedlings in order to enhance biodiversity.
OWLHK cooperates with the Green Earth, and work for its PEP in Clear Water Bay Country Park, to monitor the growth of native seedlings and to compare with untreated exotic plantation. Also, we cooperates with the Mushroom Initiative to be advisor on their PEP and leading education activities.
