With the support from The Swire Group Charitable Trust, we are so honoured to kick start a new project “Nurture via Nature: Hong Kong Nature Connectedness and Outdoor Environmental Education”! The project will include the FIRST Hong Kong territory-wide baseline survey for “children nature connectedness” and “outdoor environmental education in primary school”, along with a series of work on publicity and advocacy.
During 2023 to 2024, there will be six thematic sharing about nature connectedness and outdoor education. Speakers from various sectors, such as environmental educators, school teachers, parents, social workers and scholars, will be invited to share their expertise. The interflow of concepts, ideas and importance for the nature connectedness will be promoted with co-learn and co-construction of the new pathway for pushing the outdoor education in Hong Kong.
To promote the interflow in the field of environmental education, OWLHK together with Green Power, Education Department of Ocean Park, the Conservancy Association, the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society and WWF-Hong Kong, we organized the Hong Kong Environmental Education Interflow Workshop on 4 Sep 2017 at the Fanling Environmental Education Resources Centre. We also invited colleagues from the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation and the Ho Koon Nature Education Cum Astronomical Centre, hence a total of eight organization joining the workshop.
The nature of environmental education and education for sustainable development, is multi-dimensional and universal. The development of Hong Kong environmental education needs all educators in the field pushing together. OWLHK is eager to co-construct and exchange our ideas with all fellow educators, and to build the future of HK EE.
