For the sake of enhancing the interest of learning Hong Kong ecology, this programme made use of board game and outdoor education as the approach of learning and teaching. Moreover, the participants trained to be tutors and empowered to lead the learning activities for secondary school students, which raised the awareness of nature conservation as well as facilitated the development of environmental education in Hong Kong. Additionally, the programme initiated the training of talents and cross-fertilisation of expertise regarding board game and environmental education.
Through workshops, field trips, experts matching and board game design, we trained tertiary students to take the initiative to learn about local ecology and further study disciplines they are interested in. Subsequently, we empowered them to design board games which use biodiversity of Hong Kong as theme, as well as to lead the environmental education activity with their products.
For the sake of enhancing the learning motivation of students in outdoor, we designed a series of orienteering games including Granny’s Secret, A Day in Shui Hau, Guardians of Pui O.
